Mom and Lola usually take soup or light meals for dinner. Hubby suggested Shinjuku since he really enjoyed their ramen during one of his business meetings. After flipping through several pages of their menu and still being undecided, we asked for their best sellers which were Butakakuni and Manten Men.
The broth of Lola's Butakakuni was delicious beyond words. It had this really smokey flavor.
Butakakuni P345/regular; P445/large shoyu (soy sauce) based soup, veg., & tasty tender pork in special thick sauce |
Manten Men P310/regular; P420/large shoyu (soy sauce) based soup, crabsticks, shrimps, squid, pork, veg. in thick sauce |
My Chicken Ramen was ordinary and the chicken pieces were pretty bland.
Chicken Ramen P250/regular shio (salt) based soup, breaded tender chicken, egg & veg. |
The spice level of the Karakuchi Negi was tolerable. Hubby liked his bowl of ramen.
Karakuchi Negi P305/regular; P410/large Spicy & tasty miso based, chashu, zasai, leek |
The Gyoza was average in taste but huge in size.
Gyoza P185/4pcs; P270/6pcs |
Hot tea was served in this lovely pot.
I love how each bowl of ramen tasted differently but the servings were overwhelming and definitely meant for sharing. I would come back here for a bowl of comforting soup and maybe even sample the other Japanese dishes.

I passed by Shinjuku in Makati Ave. last night wondering if they serve good ramen. Thanks for this post. Will visit this place the next time I we go to Makati :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not a soup person but I really loved the broth of the Butakakuni. I wasn't able to try the "laman", just the broth :) Happy eating!
