Our New Marikina Discovery - Cafe Lidia

Hubby and I had to run an errand in Marikina one weeknight.  We had early dinner so by the time we were finished with what we had to do we were craving for a snack.  I googled for dessert places in the area and stumbled upon photos of the cakes from Cafe Lidia.

Hubby picked the Red Velvet Cake which was very good.  The cake was moist and the frosting was creamy.

I always go for something that has chocolate or coffee so the Swiss Choco Cappuccino was the obvious choice for me.  It was light and delicious but I could hardly taste the coffee.

You know how after eating something sweet, you crave for something salty?  We snacked on these huge pieces of French Fries which were made from real potatoes.

We were seated near the area where all the food comes out and we were salivating from all the different aromas.  We shared a very juicy grilled Cheeseburger which was served without any ketchup or dressing.  I love to drown my burgers in ketchup but this I ate as is.

On our second trip to Cafe Lidia, hubby's mom and lola were with us.  They roamed around and loved the fountain and overall homey feel of the place.

They liked their Fish & Chips and got a side order of French Fries.

Hubby enjoyed his Grilled Pork Belly.  The meat was very tender but the sauce was nothing special.

All the elements of my Chicken Marsala went well together.  The chicken was so juicy and the sauce to die for.  This dish is very filling and those mashed potatoes are love!

Despite the heavy meal, I just couldn't go home without sampling one of their cakes.  The Marshmallow Choco Cake was chocolatey and moist but the icing was a bit sweet.  Out of the 3 cakes we've tried, the Red Velvet is still the best.  Cafe Lidia's cakes remind me of Purple Oven especially Grandma's Chocolate Cake.  I tried to fish for their supplier but the servers said they didn't know.

I wouldn't mind going to Cafe Lidia again and again.  They have mouthwatering affordable dishes and cakes, friendly and attentive servers and a cozy homey ambience.
