A Quick Bite at Clucky's

First off, I'm not a die hard fan of Korean fried chicken.  I think I've only tried this type of chicken twice unless you count the ones I have prepared at home using McCormick Korean Fried Chicken Recipe Mixes.  I was staying at Medical City with my uncle and by the time I went down for dinner the foodcourt was closed.  I crossed over to the Rockwell Business Center and scouted the restaurants.  Clucky's looked like an upbeat quick service restaurant so I went in (although my uncle told me to take my time, I didn't want him to be alone too long)

I went straight to the counter but I couldn't decide right away.  In the end I figured I should try the chicken since that seemed to be their specialty.  I asked for the Tenders Meal with 3 pieces and requested for 2 pieces of the soy garlic and just one of the spicy.

breast strips, corn salad, rice and 12 oz soda/iced tea

The chicken pieces with toothpicks turned out to be spicy.  They mixed up my request but I was too hungry to send it back (they were sincerely apologetic when I informed them and even offered to change it).  The chicken pieces were juicy and the breading had a little crunch.  The soy garlic was corny and lacked seasoning.  The spicy tasted way better but it flamed up my mouth so I gulped down my rootbeer.  I'm glad I upgraded my drink to a bigger size.  The tiny serving of creamy corn helped ease my pain a bit.

After my meal I was still uneasy so I drowned my sorrows in a cup of Coffee Choco Crunch Gelato.  One of the best I've ever tasted, creamy and not too sweet.  I also loved that the chocolate chips were bittersweet.  This reminded me of the ice cream I once had at Legazpi Sunday Market.  I hope the other diners didn't think I was crazy since I couldn't stop smiling and shaking my head in delight (at this point I guess you've already figured out that I was alone)

Clucky's wasn't able to convert me into a Korean Fried Chicken fan but if I'm ever in the area I would probably go back and get the Bulgogi Rice or the Chicken Burger w/ Parmesan Fries and the Coffee Choco Crunch Gelato of course.  If hubby would join me the Kimchi Rice might be something he would like.
