Bacon Wrapped Asparagus

One way to trick picky veggie eaters to get more servings of vegetables is to mix in some meat with the vegetables.  In this case bacon made asparagus more appealing.

What I used
  • asparagus, washed, hard ends cut off
  • canadian bacon, cut in two
  • sesame oil

What I did
  • wrapped the asparagus with bacon and left it in the ref for around 30 minutes
  • heated a stovetop grill pan and brushed it with a little sesame oil
  • grilled the asparagus until the bacon was crispy, brushed the bacon drippings on the asparagus while flipping them occasionally

The saltiness of the bacon was perfect with the asparagus.  I should pay more attention to how restaurants like Sambo Kojin wrap their goodies with bacon, mine kept slipping off.  Some pieces were overcooked and soggy but we still wiped out this whole batch.  The crispy crunchy bacon did the trick.
