Tony Roma's

You must bring your hearty appetite when dining at family style restaurants like Tony Roma's.  Servings are humongous and best enjoyed with a big group of people.  They're famous for their ribs which of course we ordered.

The Fish Fillet and Ribs Combo consisted of a half slab of baby back ribs, deep fried fish fillets, a bowl of soup and 2 side dishes.  We opted for the rice and french fries.  Other options were cole slaw, baked potato, ranch style beans, mixed vegetables, roasted garlic green beans and corn on the cob.

The ribs were very tender that the meat was falling off the bones.  I couldn't resist using my fingers and licking off the sauce after.  The fish was good.  The creamy soup was a bit too sweet for me.  I forgot if it was squash or pumpkin soup.

Mom wanted seafood since we were having so much meat over the holidays so aside from the fish we had the Shrimp Marinara.  It was light, fresh and seasoned well.  I loved the grilled shrimps.

The best way to taste a variety of dishes is to order a platter or sampler.  We shared an Appetizer Sampler which didn't exactly wow us.  They were not super good but not bad either.  I liked the Potato Skins the best.

Potato Skins - baked, scooped and stuffed w/ plenty of cheddar cheese, bacon and sour cream
Fire Wings - jumbo wings in spicy bbq sauce served w/ bleu cheese dipping sauce

Mozzarella Sticks - served w/ our zesty marinara sauce

The Sonoma Salad was a crowd pleaser.  I rarely eat fruits but the grapes, apples, nuts and bleu cheese went so well with the vinaigrette.  The generous serving of chicken was a big bonus too.

Needless to say, our small party of 3 went home with satisfied tummies, smiles on our faces and a bag of leftovers.

*This is a delayed post - we dined there during the last week of December.
